¹³ Eglon joined forces with the Ammonites and Amalekites; then he went and attacked Israel and took possession of the City of Palms. ¹⁴ The children of Israel served King Eglon of Moab for eighteen years.

¹⁵ Then the children of Israel cried out to the Lord, and the Lord raised up a deliverer—Ehud son of Gera the Benjamite, a left-handed man. The children of Israel sent a tribute payment by him to King Eglon of Moab.
